This is an athletic practice and flowing practice that provides a great benefit for dancers, athletes, singers and actors. Linking postures together in a flowing sequence emphasizes a continuous steady rhythm of breath and movement creating a meditative and athletic practice. With strong roots in the flow and foundations of Ashtanga, Power Vinyasa incorporates sun salutations, standing and balance sequences, seated and inverted asanas. The postures selected by the teacher create a well-balanced energizing practice that builds strength, flexibility and core awareness. This class is taught in a warm room and is suitable for all levels of students.
Yin Yoga is the perfect compliment and balance to our more active, yang practices. Time is taken in each asana (pose) to gently create greater opening in the body and stillness in the mind, while being guided by your breath. This is a slow paced practice ideal for opening areas such as, hips, shoulders and back. The postures or asanas help to align and stretch the body.
Hatha is a slow-paced stretching class with some simple breathing exercises and perhaps seated meditation. This is a good place to learn basic poses, relaxation techniques, and become comfortable with yoga. Hatha classes provide a relaxed feeling. If you find Hatha too slow and meditative try Power Vinyasa for a completely different experience.
Strength & Stretch
This streamlined, core-centred strength and stretch class uses ballet floor barre exercises, core strengthening techniques from the Pilates, Yoga and fitness systems. Specific-focus muscle training, and deep stretching to form a complete body workout. For the dancer or athlete looking for greater strength, flexibility, and alignment, or just anybody who wants an intense and creative workout.
A middle step between Energetic Architecture and Dragon Yoga, this class will incorporate elements of Yoga, Pilates, and internal martial arts for a complete and fluid warm up, integration, toning, and rejuvenation of the body’s energy systems.
This class will borrow from the Chinese martial art Chien Lung Kung Fu, to reinforce and deepen your understanding of the energetic and breath components of your yoga practice. Through Pranayama and Chi Gung-like exercises we will learn about the energetic anatomy of the body and how to cleanse, tone and revitalize these subtle systems. Class work will have a large instructional component, and include dynamic standing breath work, specific exercises for energy cultivation, stretching and strengthening, as well as supportive, playful partner work and movement.
